One of the more interesting places to visit in Thailand is the Windmill Farm up in Khao Kho, Phetchabun (see the picture in the inset). This is an attempt to generate electricity by harvesting the power of the wind. The location of the Farm is at a fairly high elevation so there is always some wind. The giant blades at the top of the towers are moved by the wind and in turn move the turbines below which generate electricity. The low swooshing sound of the blades is in itself something to marvel at. In reality, the speed of the fans and the frequency of the sound they make is largely determined by the speed of the wind. I find an appropriate lesson in all this. God created the wind and there is an abundance of it. However, we have to find a way to harvest the wind for our benefit. God has supplied humans with endless possibilities but humans have to convert those possibilities into working realities. God does not ready-make our lives but provides the necessary foundations for us to build a good life. The Windmill Farm is an excellent example of the kind of God-human co-operative which can

make this world a better place.
