Crucified Betrayal

When people speak about the crucifixion of Jesus, inevitably, Judas Iscariot is portrayed as the traitor. However, was he the real betrayer? Yes, what he did was rather despicable but he did regret his decision. We may also ponder the possibility that he was tricked into selling Jesus out. I contend that the real traitors were the 'men of the cloth' who caused Jesus' crucifixion. Their actions were truly criminal. They broke every judicial law they had set up to get a conviction--false accusation, incoherent eyewitnesses, blackmail and judicial malfeasance. Worse, they did everything intentionally and justified their actions as 'doing the will of God'. This particular tactic has been used over and over in Christian history to persecute God's true servants. Here is the clincher: only the leaders of God's Church are capable of this kind of betrayal; only they can commit crucified betrayal.
